About Switchback Building

Family-run and based in Strasburg, Virginia. We work with homeowners and businesses across the Shenandoah Valley.

Our Foundation

Rick's been building things since he was 12, tagging along and picking up the trade from his dad, who was a builder too. That turned into a career of more than 30 years in commercial construction.

In 2020, he made the jump to residential work. Commercial construction hadn't given him much control over his own time, much room to build the way he wanted, or many chances to actually get to know the people he was building for. Switchback was his shot at all three.

As the business grew, Rick started bringing family into it, not just to spend more time together, but because he wanted people around him he actually trusted.

The name comes from something outside the jobsite entirely: Rick's a lifelong runner and hiker, and still races in charity events and marathons most years.

What "Full-Service" Means to Us

To us, full-service means you can work with one contractor while the project is underway. We coordinate the work across the different trades involved in your build or renovation, from the first estimate through the final walkthrough.

Our job is to keep the work organized and communication clear. We will explain what comes next and keep you connected with the people working on your project.
